3rd International Johann Sebastian Bach competition for young pianists J. S. Bach in Vilnius
I. GENERAL
3rd International Johann Sebastian Bach competition for young pianists J. S. Bach in Vilnius is aimed to enrich professional music education, traditions of polyphonic music, gain a more profound cognition of baroque epoch stylistics and J. S. Bach‘s creation.
Competition aims to foster the creation of baroque epoch composer J. S. Bach, initiate the distinction, artistry and virtuosity of young talents, encourage their creative initiative.
Competition is held from 7th to 8th February, 2026 at the the Saulius’ Sondeckis’ Concert Hall at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art.
Competition is one round.
The order of performance will be announced alongside with the rehearsal schedule according to the age of the participants.
The Jury reserves the right to interrupt a performance if it does not meet the professional standard of Competition or terminate it if it runs over time.
Auditions and final concert of Competition are open to the public.
Auditions and final concert of Competition under permission of the Steering Committee can be broadcasted on TV or radio.
Participants’ photos taken in the course of the event can be published on the internet sites, press or media.
In the case of doubt only the Lithuanian text of these regulations shall be considered legally binding.
4th International Johann Sebastian Bach competition for young pianists J. S. Bach in Vilnius is scheduled in 2028.
II. PARTICIPANTS AGE RANGE OF COMPETITION
6-19-year-old pupils and students from Lithuania and any foreign state, municipality and private music/art school/conservatory/music and art gymnasium are eligible for Competition. However, the students of members of the Jury are not allowed to take part at the competition.
There are 5 age categories. Actual age of the participant on the 7th February 2026 must satisfy a certain age group of Competition: Category A prim - 6-7 years of age Category A – 8-9 years of age Category B – 10-12 years of age Category C – 13-15 years of age Category D – 16-19 years of age
III. ACCOMMODATION
Travel, board and logging expenses are at participants disposal.
Limited places at charge of accommodation are available at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art Dormitory. The person in charge of accommodation at the Dormitory is Ms Jolanta Kundrotaite: email - jolanta.kundrotaite@cmm.lt.
