3rd International J. S. Bach Competition for Young Pianists "J. S. Bach in Vilnius" 2026

3rd International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition for Young Pianists "J. S. Bach in Vilnius" is aimed to enrich professional music education, traditions of polyphonic music, gain a more profound cognition of baroque epoch stylistics and J. S. Bach's creation. 
The competition will take place in the Saulius' Sondeckis' Concert Hall at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts.

PARTICIPANTS

6-19-year-old pupils and students from Lithuania and any foreign state, municipality and private mucic/art school/ conservatory/ music and art gymnasium are eligible for Competition.
There are 5 age categories:
     Category A prim -      6-7 years of age     
     Category A -              8-9 years of age
     Category B -             10-12 years of age
     Category C -             13-15 years of age
     Category D -             16-19 years of age

Attention! Actual age of the participant on the7th February 2026 must satisfy a certain age group of Competition.

REPERTOIRE

Competition is one round.
All pieces are played by memory.
Work to be performed:
     • ones or some works (original only, remake excluded) by J. S. Bach in BWV catalogue and pieces from Bach notebook by Anna Magdalena. Work edition is chosen at performer's own discretion;
     • one virtuoso piece (etude, rhapsody, toccata, ballade etc.)
     • freely chosen piece(s)

APPLICATION

By 9-th January 2026 applicants must submit:
     • application form;
     • a certified copy of the applicant's birth certificate/ passport or identification card;
     • an applicant's photo of a satisfactory quality (none the less than 700 pix, in TIF or JPG format);
     • approval of the paid entry fee.
